The Spring Knit & Stitch show is a must every year. One day – I hope to have a stall there, but for the moment I really enjoy browsing other shops products, getting inspired and sometimes even finding a new project.
Following on from my Crochet addiction I visited the TOFT Stall. My friend who I was attending the show with had recently tagged me in one of their latest creations, mini-crochet sealife!!!! I instantly fell in love with the Octopus and knew when I attended the show I had to purchase a kit.
The pattern was simple and within two evenings I had a mini octopus in my hand.
PURE. HAPPINESS.
The kit cost £7.00 which includes 25g of Alpaca DK in a colour of your choice (pink, of course) and the pattern.
For any beginner this is a great project to improve and push your skills. It isn’t a big project which means I really focused to get it finished and meant I have made many more in a range of different colours over the past couple of weeks. Usually with me I wander from project to project but I have been determined to finish each octopus from starting them.
I hope to maybe set a trade account up with TOFT to stock their wonderful kits but at the moment space in the shop is so limited (anyone want to find me a affordable large shop where I can stock all the beautiful kits). Although I do stock their books, Edwards Menagarie and Edwards Menagarie Birds by Kerry Lord which have been a huge success in the shop.
Hope this inspires you to learn a new skill this summer, there are so many great projects out there! IT IS ENDLESS!
Anyway – back to my current Crochet octopus. I’m using up all my odds and ends of Acrylic DK which means octopuses in every colour and size – thats if my cats don’t decide to steal them… I’ve already lost 2 octopuses to the garden (still yet to be found)
Octopus army coming soon..!
