So this past year I have been pushing through with my crochet skills. At the start I really struggled with tension. I kept holding the hook like a knitting needle which meant the tension of the crochet was loose and incorrect. After several visit to my wonderful crafty ladies and many glasses of gin I began to get the idea of chaining, double crochet and trebles.
One evening I started experimenting with Granny Squares and Magic Rings. I cannot explain how happy I was to successfully crochet a granny square. FINALLY I can start on all the crochet pins that I have saved on Pinterest. I decided from successfully creating a granny square I would continue crocheting with it and create a infinity blanket.
In the shop we stock a range of yarn called Stylecraft Special DK. Within this 100% Acrylic range there is 82 colours, so a wide range of colours!! This range is reliable, well known and perfect for so many different projects. In my eyes Special DK is great to crochet with. One ball is 100g with a whopping 295 metres. 295 metres goes a long way! The acrylic yarn works well with the hook and trebles just slid and grows. One blogger that crochets and promotes the yarn range is Attic 24. She works with the Stylecraft DK to create wonderful colour combinations.
I AM OBSESSED!!!… even Smudge my lovely black and white cat loves it, and not forgetting my boyfriend who keeps pulling it over him when I’m crocheting next to him on the sofa.
Once you start crocheting, you honestly can’t stop!
So far I have used one ball of each (£15.75 in total) and its perfect baby blanket size! I’m hoping to keep going and use one more ball of each so it can fit on a sofa or single bed. I’ll keep you updated.
Hope this has encourage you to pick up a crochet hook and learn a new hobby this summer!
