Spring Bunnies

From the weather today I would say spring is here!! Daffodils are out, lambs are in every other field, the sun has appeared and the shop has had a fresh delivery of spring fabrics.

One of the latest collections to enter the shop is GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU by Clothworks. As soon as my fabric man showed this to my mum, she melted. I remember this story being read to me about the mumma rabbit and baby rabbit and the love contest of who loved each other more with quotes such as ‘ I love you to the moon and back’ , ‘I love you as high as I can reach’ and ‘I love you as high as I can hop’. The fabric collection compliments the book perfectly and a quilt or cot bumper made in this fabric would be a perfect addition to any nursery!

When I ordered the fabric collection I decided on 5 prints in a range of cream, pink and blue colour-ways. Choosing was very difficult due to space in the shop, which meant much to my mum’s annoyance I gave her a limit of 5 bolt choices. We ended up choosing 3 cream neutral prints and one pink spot and one blue stripe.

As soon as the fabric came in the shop I knew I had to make something with it, to show the quality and diversity of the fabric.

I decided to make a simple patchwork nursery quilt and create a panel window effect with the main quotes from the book.

I only used 45cm x 110cm of each fabric. So £6.52 per fabric (£14.50 a metre). I also used a plain cream cotton to make the quilt larger.

Not only is this fabric collection perfect for a babies nursery, I can also imagine it being used for home furnishing accessories, garments and much more.

The choices are endless!
